Dynamica® SK75
A 12 strand braided rope available in sizes to Ø200mm & 2500 tons capacity. Lightweight and easy to handle, SK75 is also highly abrasion resistance.
In the extreme cold, wet, salt-laden and changable conditions of the off-shore & subsea environment, ropes need to be strong, light and easy to handle. Dynamica® ropes, manufactured from Dyneema®, are known as some of the very best in the industry when it comes to tackling these extremes. Unilift are proud to offer a complete range of Dynamica® rope products including off-shore, tow, winch, mooring and lifting ropes.
From the coastal shallows to ultra-deepwater, ropes made from Dyneema® are as strong as steel yet light enough to float (being 80% lighter than their wire rope counterparts). Their reduced weight also translates to greatly increased crane capacity — especially at extreme depths — where capacity can be halved simply due to the sheer weight of the rope.
With the ocean constantly moving, any form of moored or anchored ocean-going vessel will be constantly on the move as well. This constant movement puts a great deal of strain on any rope. Dyneema® based ropes are designed in such way to offer 3x the fatigue performance of generic HMPE ropes.
Whether run through a fairlead or over a capstan, mooring lines are subject to severe abrasive forces that can reduce service life or even cause dangerous line failure. Tests have shown that lines made with Dyneema® have a 4x longer abrasion resistant lifetime than HMPE in relevant applications. Dyneema® fibres can also be manufactured into a range of protective sheaths & covers for the additional protection of lifting slings or mooring ropes with fixed end mounts.
Ropes made from HMPE are generally sensitive to long-term loads — especially in areas of higher ambient temperatures — meaning that lines made with these material can suffer with 'creep' or elongate proportionally over time. This process will ultimately limit the lifespan of the line. Mooring lines made with Dyneema® SK78 offer at least a 4x longer creep lifetime than any HMPE fibre – helping to keep ropes and lines in service for longer.
Dynamica® ropes can withstand extreme temperature fluctuations – making it equally suitable for use in the Arctic as in the Middle East. Tests have shown that Dyneema® ropes perform very well from -40°C to 70°C, with short-term exposure up to 100°C not causing any serious loss in performance. This is well within the usage range of most mooring or subsea operations. And with moisture being unable to penetrate Dyneema® fibres, sub-zero temperatures will not effect the stiffness or strength of Dyneema® ropes, making it ideal in liquified natural gas transfer situations.
On top of their much longer service life and the lowest manufacturing carbon footprint per unit of strength, Dynamica® ropes do not require grease or other forms of lubrication, greatly reducing their impact in off-shore environments.
